Introduction to the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), located in Clear Water Bay, New Territories, was founded in 1991. It now comprises four schools with 20 departments, as well as interdisciplinary programs and postgraduate schools. HKUST graduates approximately 4,000 students annually. For example, in 2013, there were 2,074 undergraduate graduates, 1,602 master's graduates, and 189 doctoral graduates.

HKUST's doctoral, master's, and bachelor's degree graduates all wear full graduation gowns.Dark blueThe main components are the academic gown, hood, and cap. The gowns for master's and bachelor's degrees are generally similar in style, with the hood featuring a special colored band to represent the individual college, while doctoral degree gowns do not have a college-specific colored band.
