The University of Hong KongThe University of Hong Kong (HKU) is located in Pok Fu Lam, on the west side of Hong Kong Island. It is the oldest tertiary institution in Hong Kong, founded in 1911. HKU has now developed into a university with 10 faculties, offering various undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Each year, the university has approximately 3,000 undergraduate students and 4,000 postgraduate students graduating.

The University of Hong Kong holds an annual Degree Conferment Ceremony for all graduates. The ceremony is usually held at the end of November each year.AsiaWorld-ExpoThe graduation ceremony is presided over by President Professor Tsui Lap-chee, who conferred degrees to all doctoral, master's, and bachelor's degree graduates. In addition, each college also holds its own "graduation ceremony," during which graduates are individually introduced and taken to the stage. The date of the graduation ceremony varies, generally falling between early November and January of the following year, and the venue also differs from college to college.

During the ceremony, the graduation gowns worn by graduates reflect their chosen field of study. In addition to the different styles of gowns representing doctoral, master's, and bachelor's degrees, the gowns are also trimmed with ribbons in the specific colors of each college.

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) boasts a long history and a vast campus, primarily divided into the Main Campus and the Sassoon Road Campus. The Main Campus houses teaching and central administrative facilities, including many buildings from the university's early days; while the Sassoon Road Campus mainly comprises halls and buildings of the Medical School. The entire HKU campus includes four declared monuments: the Main Building, the Kung Hing Ying House, the Tang Chi Ng House, and the University Hall Residence. Except for University Hall, which is located on the Sassoon Road Campus near Pok Fu Lam Road, the other three buildings are located on the Main Campus. In addition to these four monuments, HKU also contains numerous historical buildings, including many Grade I or Grade II historic buildings, which not only record HKU's more than a century of history but also serve as popular photo spots for graduates.
